Relocation successes: Andre and his family obtain their permit to stay in Switzerland

Since the beginning of the war the Global Black Coalition has been advocating and fighting for an equal right to safety and relocation for many visible minority families across Europe fleeing the war in Ukraine.

The government of Switzerland was quite challenging to deal with and many of our community members were threatened with deportation. In fact, one community member was deported.

Andre's wish was to stay in Switzerland with his family but he faced many challenges. At first, the government of Switzerland did not want to grant him a permit to stay.

As we may have previously shared with you, through the advocacy work of our GBC team in Switzerland, Andre and his family were finally able to obtain their documents and permits.

They are now beginning an almost stress-free new life in Switzerland.

Their son Damian began school.
